About

FEW Foundation, Inc. exists solely for the college education of the qualified, indigent incarcerated women of Eddie Warrior Correctional Center of Taft, Oklahoma. FEW provides tuition and textbooks for the women it serves. It was founded in 1997, and has funded over 700 classes. This semester, Spring 2008, FEW has 61 women in college classes. FEW Foundation has a 501(C)(3) tax status from the IRS. It is unique in that all monies contributed to it go entirely to the women it was designed to serve. FEW has no overhead, no employees, and no bills other than tuition and textbooks. 100% of the contributions given to FEW goes to the education of the incarcerated women of EWCC. FEW partners with Connors State College of Warner, Oklahoma.
CSC sends certified teachers to the prison; these are not correspondence courses. Sixteen women have received their AA's from FEW's college program. Recidivism studies show that successful completion of a single college class opens a door of opportunity that was previously unimaginable to our inmate students.

With that in mind, FEW broadcasts its money, encompassing as many women as it can. Much of FEW's work is therefore "bread upon the water," with few concrete examples of the lives it changes. There is a very heartening, shining exception to this: one of the students who received her AA in prison with us is now a fully accredited attorney-at-law successfully practicing in Oklahoma City.
